For 30 years, Community Shares has been a strong supporter of nonprofits focusing on Social Justice, Animal Welfare and the Environment. Over the coming months, we will be sharing 30 stories from our 30 years of community change.
Kim Chick, a Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity construction supervisor, directs volunteers as they build homes. The services the organization provides hit home for her because she grew up on welfare as a single mom and moved around a lot. She is part of the organization’s Women Build Program for women who want to learn construction skills while working together to build homes. The program gives the opportunity for women to comfortably work together, learn skills for the first time, ask questions, and bond as they help provide home ownership for others.

The Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity is proud to have contributed to this number by building or rehabilitating 420 single family homes, rehabilitating 65 properties through the A Brush with Kindness program and financing the construction of 500 homes worldwide through its tithing donations.
