Imagine you’re an ex-offender being released from the house of corrections at 12:01 a.m. Where would you go? What would you do?
88Nine RadioMilwaukee, a local radio station dedicated to reaching a new generation of radio with the most entertaining and adventurous selection of music and public affairs programming, featured Project RETURN and the story of a man who was in that exact position. He spent the first night after his release wearing shorts, flip-flops and a tank top in Wisconsin’s cold December weather. The man showed up at Project RETURN at 7:30 a.m. the following morning and the staff couldn’t understand why he refused to go into housing.
Listen to his story here to find out why he refused the comforts of a warm place to sleep.
Project RETURN helps ex-offenders make a positive and permanent return to the community. Since 1981, Project RETURN has been helping ex-offenders change their lives by assisting with employment, housing and other needs.
