Share and Be Aware: Drive and Ride Safely

Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin

Did you know that Wisconsin law recognizes bicycles as vehicles?  Or that crosswalks exist even where they are not marked with white painted lines? Those are laws that many people are not aware of. However, the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin and the Department of Transportation are teaming up to make citizens aware of the rules and educate motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians on how to safely share the road through the Bike Fed’s program Share and Be Aware.

The Share and Be Aware program hopes to reduce the number of crashes and traffic fatalities involving bicyclists and pedestrians. You can find information about safe driving and safe biking on their website or watch a couple of their helpful public service announcements below.

Formed in 1988, the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin is one of the oldest bicycle advocacy organizations in the United States. Representing the 2.5 million people who ride bicycles in Wisconsin every year, it is continually working to inspire and unite the community to move bicycling forward.
