Join us on Wednesday, November 11 at Yield, 1932 E. Kenilworth Pl., for the 2009 Rock On Community Shares (ROCS) benefit concert. This year's ROCS Concert will raise funds to support the work of Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee, and will feature homegrown Wisconsin act The Wildbirds. The show will start at 9 p.m. Yield will also donate 5% of all sales from 4 p.m. to closing to benefit Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee.
Hailing from northern Wisconsin, The Wildbirds blend jangly guitar licks with driving hard rock beats for a style all their own. The Wildbirds’ 2007 release, Golden Daze, garnered the band national attention, while their energetic, up-tempo live shows are quickly becoming the talk of the garage-rock music scene. David Fricke of Rolling Stone magazine recently described the band’s performance style as “bringing a big bag of howl and twin-guitar clatter that sounded like a shotgun wedding of the Band and the New York Dolls.”
As with last year’s highly successful ROCS show, which featured local powerhouse duo Fever Marlene, the 2009 ROCS show will be held at Yield, thanks to the generous commitment of Yield owner Jim Zeisler. The show is sponsored by Vestica Healthcare.
Tickets to the 2009 Rock On Community Shares concert will be available at the door.
The event will also feature a raffle for these fantastic prizes. Raffle tickets will be sold at Yield all week Nov. 9-11: $2 each; $5 for 3; $10 for 7. Stop in to get your tickets prior to the event, or buy them the night of.
