Community Benefit Coordinator

Primary Responsibilities:: 

General Summary: The primary responsibility of the Community Benefit Coordinator is to support the Community Benefit department in the tracking and reporting community benefit activities, as well as the development and implementation of Froedtert Hospital’s Community Benefit programs. Reporting to the Manager of Community Partnerships, this position will work closely with key staff across Froedtert Hospital, with F&CH community benefit contacts and with and select community based organizations to accomplish department goals.

Essential Functions:

1. Accounting for Community Benefit. Actively solicits and collects community benefit stories and data from Finance, Community Education, and other hospital / health system departments. Establishes and maintains collaborative process with F&CH partners to calculate and interpret data for communication to various constituencies including the Wisconsin Hospital Association (WHA), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), internal audiences and the community. Maintains current knowledge of national Community Benefit practices and trends to accurately account for Community Benefit activities in accordance with current IRS, AHA, WHA, ACHI and Froedtert & Community Health definitions.

2. Information Management. Serves as the internal expert on Lyons software (CBISA), which tracks Community Benefits activity and costs. Provides recommendations for upgrades, support requirements, etc. Is responsible for all data entry and report generation for Froedtert Hospital. Works closely with the
Finance Department to assure accuracy and consistency in financial calculations. Serves on the Froedtert & Community Health community benefit work group.

3. Promotion. Provides one-on-one and group education with Froedtert staff to enhance their understanding of the Community Benefit department and its role in supporting the Hospital’s mission and not-for-profit status. Will develop and revise training materials based on training needs. Helps staff identify and report Community Benefit activities and stories. Develops and maintains the community benefit content on intranet and froedtert.com web sites. Provides content and
editing for the Weekly Forum, and other publications. Works with F&CH community benefit team to plan and produce content for the Annual Report.

4. Froedtert Cares Program. Assists with management of the employee drives and Community Service Program.

5. Budget Spreadsheet. Track Community Benefit expenses and prepare sponsorships for processing.

6. Supports and demonstrates a customer service commitment to internal and external customers through adherence to Froedtert Hospital's customer service standards and processes.

7. Maintains competence through attendance at mandatory and other job-related educational opportunities.

8. Actively participates in Froedtert Hospital's POET (performance excellence) process through team membership, problem solving and by supporting the Hospital's commitment to performance excellence.

9. Understands how applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures impact specific job responsibilities and functions. Demonstrates actions to reasonably prevent, detect and report unethical and unlawful business practice.

10. Performs assigned job functions in a fiscally responsible manner and in accordance with Hospital and departmental policies and procedures regarding business practices.

11. Assists in maintaining a safe environment of care by: actively participating in hospital and department safety education and training programs; performing position duties in a safe manner; reporting hazardous conditions or unsafe practices; and abiding by all applicable safety policies and regulations.

Skills/Requirements: 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1. Bachelor’s degree in a health related field, health promotion and/or community development, communications or marketing preferred.

2. Preferred one to two years experience in healthcare field, with prior community education or public health experience.

3. Expertise in Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint is required. Proficiency in database management and data internet research necessary. Familiarity with desktop publishing desired.

4. Concise writing ability, good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

5. Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills necessary to interact with hospital staff, visitors and community groups.

6. Must demonstrate commitment to healthcare information privacy as well as the ability to process confidential information in a sensitive manner.

1. Must drive car. Occasional travel within the Milwaukee metro areas.
2. Be able to move and lift up to 15 lbs.
