CSGM seeking nominations for 2010 Commitment to Justice Awards

Each year, Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee asks members of the community to nominate individuals committed to social and environmental justice for recognition through our Commitment to Justice Awards.

This year, our Commitment to Justice Award Ceremony will take place on September 16th and will honor nominees in the following categories:

Lifelong Commitment to Justice Award: Honors an individual responsible for actions that have contributed to social or economic justice, equality and improved quality of life in the Milwaukee community over a period of 10 years or more. 

Future of Change Award: Honors an individual under the age of 30 who has  already demonstrated initiative and leadership in a significant action that contributed to justice, equality, or significantly improved quality of life for others in  the Milwaukee area. 

President's Award: Honors an individual who is either an employee or volunteer with a Community Shares organization and has made significant contributions to the advancement of social or environmental justice in the Milwaukee community. 

A. David Schwartz Business Humanitarian Award: Honors an individual who has used his or her position in a for-profit business as a means of improving social justice or the environment locally.

Last year's award winners included: Peter Goldberg of the Milwaukee Public Defenders Office, Stephanie Saniter of the Hope House of Milwaukee, Victoria Wellens of the Wisconsin Humane Society, and Maureen Kane of MMK Design.

We look forward to recognizing individuals in our community who made a difference this year at our 21st Annual Commitment to Justice Awards Ceremony.
