For all of you that enjoy the taste of homegrown food, Grow Your Own Groceries is a backyard gardening course that teaches urban residents how to design, plant, and care for a productive vegetable garden. By growing food at home, individuals and families save money on groceries, eat healthier, and avoid commercial food safety scares.
We are currently seeking volunteers for our 2010 Spring River Cleanup. It’s part of Keep Greater Milwaukee Beautiful Day, and The All-American Cleanup. Our 15th Annual Spring River Cleanup takes place April 17, 2009 from 9am-Noon at parks and river-parkways throughout the Greater Milwaukee area.
Please join us on Tuesday, April 20th, for our first luncheon event themed “Keeping the Dream Alive”. We are sensitive to the toll the economy has taken on all of us and feel confident that you will be able to purchase a single ticket at this event for $40.00. If your circumstances allow, please consider a single ticket at $60.00 which allows us to not only cover our costs but support the ongoing activities of the many programs we provide. Table sponsorship for this event is $600.
On April 21, Sean Tuohy, real-life adoptive father of NFL rookie Michael Oher, whose story is told in the book and movie, “The Blind Side,” will speak at the Adoption is Good Business awards luncheon at the Pfister Hotel. Bill Michaels, host of WTMJ Radio’s Sports Central, will be the master of ceremonies.

On Wednesday, April 28, 2010 WisCOSH will join workers, families of workplace victims and the Milwaukee Area Labor Council. in Zeidler Union Square Park in downtown Milwaukee to commemorate those workers killed on the job or who died from workplace exposures to hazards and illnesses. Once again this year those service men and women from WI who died while performing their duty will be included.
