CSGM Board of Directors approves new Socially Responsible Investment policy

Community Shares of Greater Milwaukee’s investment policy is now perfectly aligned with its ideals of social justice and a healthy environment: its board of directors has approved a Socially Responsible Investment policy as part of its updated investment policy.

Please support Community Shares and our 49 member organizations in this year’s Combined Public Sector Campaigns and giving programs in dozens of private businesses and nonprofit organizations throughout the city. Click here for a list of participating businesses and organizations. Participants in the 2009 Community Shares workplace giving program include 97% of the workplaces that participated in 2008, as well as 10 new businesses.

Renee Scherck-Meyer's Marathon Experience

CSGM Board member Renee Scherck-Meyer ran the Whistlestop Marathon on Oct. 10 and raised $100 for Community Shares in the process.  Recently Renee shared her thoughts about this experience including her motivation for running her first marathon and why running for a cause is something that made this achievement all the more meaningful.

Commitment to Justice Awards draws over 200 to celebrate achievements in social justice

Thanks to everyone who attended the 20th Annual Commitment to Justice Awards event Sept.10.  The event drew more than 200 people to the Milwaukee Hilton City Center who came to honor four community leaders for their important work in promoting social justice
